Part Two...
Soy Fashionista was invited to give a speech to Webster Middle School’s “Big Picture Academy”. There are only 4-5 Big Picture Academies in the USA. They are teaching kids differently;one of their methods is to bring in speakers with interesting jobs and have them give their story of how they made it happen, including thinking outside the box, and it being ok to DREAM BIG. Soy Fashionista gave the kids that chance to blog about 3 different subjects, and 5 winners were chosen to be published on Soy’s “Be a Hero” tab. It turned out that we couldn’t only pick 5...their blogs were so AWESOME, that I had to pick 9 instead! Below you’ll find all the winning pieces of work. Please take the time to read them…thanks!

I have many heroes I admire, but the hero I admire deeply is the General of the Army, Douglas MacArthur. Although I don't know much about him, his actions, the leadership, and his bravery, gives hope to many people and what I truly respect is, he believes that justice will bring the world to a truth, and by saying that, he thinks that even the weak has hope. This man will gladly sacrifice his own life for others, no for the people. I believe that he finished or fulfilled his dreams he wanted, and although he passed away, his death was never in vain. Death is what he does not fear, but although I have different dreams from him, I desire the same way he does.

My passion is to read books. It's a good way to spend time and get knowledge at the same time. Throughout history there have been books made to teach people and keep what they learn and now books are made to tell us about our history. Even though not a lot of people like reading, one day it might help them in life. Reading can sometimes be fun because with your imagination you can go to that place you are reading. Reading can also make you feel what another person is feeling and might help you relate to people in real life so you might help them with something or understand what they're going through.

Well, I don't have a hero. I don't exactly have the greatest relationship with my mom or older brother. I wish I had a hero. But I do look up to one of my teachers, Ali MacDonald. She's one of the best people I have ever met. I want to be an activist when I grow up. Fight for rights and stand up for what I think is right or wrong. I've always argued with people for what I think is wrong or right. My aunt always says I should be a politician because I never stop arguing but that's just not me. I want to actually do stuff about animal cruelty, seal hunting, the lack of trees, endangered animals, help the poor and a whole lot more! I want to be involved and do things! That is my dream. My passion is to follow my dream and try my hardest in school so that later I can make my family proud and show everyone I can make it and nothing is impossible.

When I grow up I don't exactly know what and who I wanna be. I wanna be one of my mom's daughters that goes through high school and college. Who is successful and strong that will try my best to support my family. My hero well, i don't exactly know, but I want to be a person that you can count on that maybe my cousin will look up to. I wanna be an idol. My passion is to sing. I want to be as good as artist and song writers. I want my songs to have feeling and I want people to understand what I sing and my lyrics. I am passionate about who I am and where I come from. I am proud to be me and to be in a small but not big but loving family who is always there for me.
