El Rebozo

I think one of the most beautiful things a woman can wear is a rebozo. Wearing a rebozo is an old tradition. I remember the fist time I saw someone wearing one was when my grandmother, Mama Esther came to visit us from Mexico. When I saw her, I thought: why is she wearing that thing over her head like that? But the more I stared at it, the more I realized how beautiful it was. It was black and made out of lace. It had different sized flowers with a cuffed trim and it was long enough to wrap it over her head and neck. I finally asked her why she wore it and she said that in her times every respected senorita would wear one, (especially when you entered into God’s house). After that, every time I went to church, I noticed that all of the older women were wearing one. Believe it or not my Mama Esther still wears her rebozo everyday.
