I just discovered this neat iphone application while surfing the web for travel packages. I’ve always wanted to go to France and pretend I’m Carrie Bradshaw wandering the streets of Paris, but without getting lost of course. I am someone who likes to buy guide books and maps when I visit unfamiliar places like Europe, but sometimes carrying books and maps around can be down right pesky and so “touristy”. This application includes the latest information from Frommer’s® Complete series and it is updated quarterly. It includes maps, nightlife, hotels, shopping, suggested itineraries, walking tours, restaurants, etc. The only drawback I could foresee is that you would have to rely on having coverage abroad, so check with your provider first, you don’t want to end up with a fat bill for using international data. You can download this application at apptism.com for 9.99. I think this price is actually pretty comparable considering guide books usually range from $15-$25.
