Ready

As I can be, anyway! Now that I have made up mind to date, where do I start? A few friends suggested trying Speed Dating, Online Dating, going to supermarkets, or bookstores. Well, I wasn’t sure if I was quite ready to Speed Date yet, so I went straight to Online Dating. I ended up on a site called Plenty of Fish. It was easy to use, and to top it off, it was… FREE! I thought it was cool that I didn’t have to pay anything. In case I didn’t like the men I was meeting, I could just delete my profile. If I had no luck with the free site, I could try somewhere else like Eharmony where you have to pay; I heard through friends that they have meet a few cool guys there, but never had a match. So my profile was up, and (no joke), within 10 minutes, 20 guys emailed me. WOW!! To be honest, I was both overwhelmed and excited. But as I opened each email, I noticed that most were either way too old or way too young. So I weeded out the ones I knew I would never have a connection with, hahaha! The emails from the young ones were looking for a women to give them experience (sex!), and the older ones where just trying to settle with anyone that would give them a chance. It was so random how far apart from the spectrum they were from each other. Don’t get me wrong, I did find a few good men…well that’s how they sold themselves on their profiles, anyway! So I started to write them back, and I realized that I had lost the ability to flirt. Great, I had no clue how talk to guys anymore.

Setting

Out to re-find my flirting ego was not as hard as I thought; it was like riding a bike. A few guys that I chatted with over IM were fun, and it came easy to open up a bit about myself without having to give too much information. I made a few connections, and I started to get asked out on dates. It’s so nerve racking to build up enough courage to put yourself out there in hopes that you will be liked, and that he’s normal, and not a freak!

GO!

Getting myself ready for my date(s), I realized that I needed to get a few things done to myself first before heading out the door. Looking myself over, I saw I had been a bit lazy on some personal up keep. As sad it sounds, I didn’t have a clue what was going on with me. I need my eye brows plucked, get a mani/pedi, really needed to lose some weight, and even get a haircut. I decided to stop thinking negatively, remembering that if I felt good about myself, it would radiate to the guys I dated, and give me the confidence I needed to get myself out there.
