Think Cure!

Think Cure is the official charity and non-profit organization of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Living in Los Angeles as a kid, my family’s favorite pastime was attending baseball games at Dodger Stadium. Like that of many Americans, the tradition of baseball is passed down from father to son. In my case, it was mother to daughter.
Before I was born, it was predetermined by my mother that I would be a dodger fan. It wasn’t going to matter if I was a boy or girl. So, here I am, a true Dodger fan for 36 years or more (if you count the time I was in the womb).
I lost my mom to ovarian cancer in July of 1992. It was only natural that when the Los Angeles Dodgers launched Think Cure in 2007 along with the McCourt family, city of hope and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, it would be one of my favorite charities. Their purpose is to raise funds for cancer research and mission, and find a cure for cancer.
I have been doing research on different charities, figuring out who does the best work and wanting to know how our money is used. The dodger organization really goes out of their way to make sure patients are kept in the best spirits. Dodgers have a long history of visiting children in local hospitals. Imagine Andre Ethier reading a book to your sick child or Brad Penny signing a hat for a young girl that lost her hair. It’s touching, and for the players, it what they want to do. Putting a smile on a patient and have them forget just for a moment that they are sick, is all worth it for a Dodger player.
