The Stuff We Hide From Our Parents

If you’re la unica nina like I am, then you know how hard your parents try to make a respectable lady out of you. Bless their hearts for trying, but everyone now and then we stray from their idea of what a “good girl” is. This is why we still hide stuff from our parents. Whether you’re 15 or 25, neither the pressure nor the judgment seem to ever stop.

Here’s a list of things we continue to hide from our parents:

1. The tattoo you got in college

2. Condoms and birth control you hide under your mattress (because ninas buenas don’t need such things!)

3. Lingerie

4. Credit card balance

5. Your party central pictures (parents don’t want to see you humping your best friend)

6. That you’re no longer a virgin (c’mon, we all know that boat sailed a long time ago)

7. That you know how to get down and back it up on the dance floor

8. joint (even if it was from a Reggae festival 3 years ago)

9. Tampons

10.Who you really spent the weekend with (and it’s not your cousin Carmen as you told your mom)
