Oh my goodness! Dios Mio! The time has arrived to begin shopping for the Gown! Or should I say the Divine trinity: the dress, the veil, and the bouquet. This is a very important part of the wedding. Give yourself enough time to make a decision that you will be satisfied with.Often times brides do not realize that time is a crucial factor or that most wedding dresses are non-refundable. First and foremost, decide if you are going to purchase a gown that is already made or if you will be designing your own to be made by a dressmaker. If you choose to purchase your dress, go over the policies the store has on alterations. Make sure you can make changes all the way up until the week before your wedding. It is common for brides to fluctuate in weight during the planning process. Be realistic in your options and think back to dresses you might have worn in the past and features about the dress you liked; piece several ideas together to keep in mind while selecting your dress. Also think of things you did not like about dresses to make certain you don’t choose styles that aren’t flattering.
When going dress shopping, take two or three people with you who will give you their honest opinion and who know your style pretty well. Don’t make your selection in the first store you go to! Shop several different locations and give it some serious thought. Keep in mind the type of undergarment you will be using, and, if possible, take it with you to your fittings. The length of the dress is also important, so take a pair of heels the height of your wedding shoes. Often times certain bridal stores offer packages with the dress, veil, bouquet, (and even garter!) for one price.
If you’re having the dress made, your seamstress can make a coordinating veil with accents she will be using on your dress. The bouquet is like the icing on the cake! It is the final signature to complete your look on the big day. Fresh flower bouquets always add a classy (and often pricey) touch. However, you can also make your own by using store bought flowers, satin ribbon and shiny tulle at a very inexpensive price. If you purchased a package where one was included and you do not want to use it for yourself, use it for the bouquet toss instead
Shopping for your dress can seem like the most difficult task but if the proper time is permitted than there should be no problems.
