Good Things Come To Those Who WAIT

We have become a society who is used to immediate gratification. Instant, Now, Right Away…. Can’t Wait! Think about it, if you have to wait to see the picture your friend you emailed you, but it takes more than 30 seconds to download, you freak out!
So, now think to the last person you sent a text to and try to remember how long you had to wait for an answer. Did you have to wait a few seconds? A few minutes? Yeah, I know the answer…it only took a few seconds, right? What if they had taken longer? Would you have texted them again to see why they haven’t responded? Well, what if that person was driving and you made them pick up their phone and text you back? That is my point here.
Even though the laws have changed and we know we shouldn’t be on the phone, WE all still do it. Well, personally I think it is because I know this person that just sent me a text is most likely waiting for an immediate answer. And if I don’t answer right away, they will think something is wrong. So of course I have to answer them right away so they won’t be worried. So there we go, continuing the dangerous habit of texting while driving. Not to mention it is ILLEGAL!
I am making a personal proclamation: I will no longer answer my texts while driving! And that means that even if I am driving long distance, I will not answer YOU!
I have put down my phone after texting while driving and then tried to think back to the last few seconds and it is scary to realize that I don’t remember. I don’t text very much, but even if it is once in a while, it still is once too many times. I wouldn’t drive drunk, but then why do I text while driving? It is the same thing.
Bottom line, relax everybody. If your BFF takes a while to answer you, relax and wait. If your Blackberry rings as you are driving along, WAIT and relax. Good things will happen, if you just WAIT!
