A popular and trendy drink among many night time hotspots is the Sangria. It comes to us from Spain, but was introduced to us in 1964 at New York’s world fair. Sangria can be enjoyed with just about anything. What I like the most about it is its amazing color palette. The red wine and fresh fruit slices serviced in a glass pitcher add great detail to a table setting. Here is a recipe for you to enjoy:

Ingredients

  • 3 cups fruity red wine
  • 1 cup brandy
  • 1/4 cup orange flavored liqueur
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 lime, sliced
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 apple
  • 8 fresh raspberries
  • 2 cups club soda

Directions

In a large pitcher, combine all ingredients except club soda. Cover tightly and refrigerate at least 1 hour prior. When ready, pour club soda. Serve immediately.

***Factoid

Another variation to this is to use peach or nectarine and white wine to make “zurra”, a southern Spain favorite.
