So What’s the Difference?

So What’s the Difference?

A couple Saturday’s ago I was hanging out with family. After a hot day of firework sales, we decided to go eat at a restaurant and my cousin’s boyfriend ordered a Preparada. Oh, it looked so tasty in the salt rimmed glass. I began to think what the heck is the difference between La Preparada, Chavela, and Michelada. So, of course, I did my homework and I prepared a little cheat sheet for you.

La Cerveza Preparada

It is a mixture of beer, juices and sauces that dates back to the 1940’s. They use   Clamato or V8, Mexican beer (Corona or Modelo), half a lime, and a salt rimmed glass to make it.

Michelada

This has all the ingredients of a Bloody Mary. However, instead of vodka, you use Mexican beer.

Chavela

The chavela is made with tomato, V8, or Clamato juice, beer, hot sauce (Tapatio, Tabasco, etc.), in a salt rimmed glass and garnished with carrots, celery sticks, and shrimp.
