The day Obama put his hand on President Lincoln's Bible and swore to serve our country and ended with "….so help me God" was a day that I will never forget. This historic day is going down in the books for many reasons. Obama, promising change and giving us hope for the future, has won the unconditional support for some of Hollywood's biggest names, best artistas and some of the industry’s most talented musicos. The night of the inauguration, different balls were hosted in honor of our new President and tons of artists performed as a form of respect to our number 44.

John Legend, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Shakira, Nas, Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z Common, Alicia Keys, Will.I.Am , Faith Hill, Sting, Maroon 5, and Stevie Wonder, just to name some, all performed and got the crowd pumped as people waved their hands in the air and chanted "OBAMA!!" and "Yes we Can!" and "Yes we DID!!", because, after all, WE DID! Millions of voters made this possible, and we the people put Obama in office. I was so excited to watch the performances and each artist paid tribute and respect in their own way.

Mariah sang "Hero", as the rappers rapped about our first Black President, and Stevie Signed, Sealed, and Delivered! My favorite moment was at the “Neighborhood Ball”, (which aired on ABC), where Beyonce sang Etta James’ "At Last" as the president and his wife, the First Lady, Michelle Obama, danced their official first dance. The song was sung perfectly; she gave me chills as she hit every note just right and put so much emotion in her performance. When later interviewed, chocked up, she fought back tears as she explained what an honor this was for her. She chose the song because she said, "At Last, we've made it! They made it! He was born for this…"

As I was at home with tears in my eyes, excited about what the next 4 years will be like our country, I was so proud to be me; not only an American, but a strong, young, empowered LATINA, with the whole world ahead of me and a future, that has been promised to be bright!! I couldn't help but to feel that I, WE, my friends, family, and everyone else who did their part and voted, made this happen. That us, like Obama, have helped make history, and we were no different than Oprah, or Samuel L. Jackson, or the artist that performed, because, we too, are full of hope an excited for the change to come!
