It’s quirky, it’s edgy, it will inspire you, and it will have you laughing and crying all at once. It’s The John Mejia Show, starring the show’s creator John Mejia. This first time show is a labor of love for Mejia who has performing in his blood.
Mejia a high-energy all-around performer conceived of the idea for this wide-audience-appeal show to feed his performing bug and share some of himself with the world. “It was me saying to myself, it’s now or never,” says Mejia. “This is what I have always wanted to do since my first performance in grade school.”
“It's zany, silly, and at times a profound musical variety romp with comedic twists lead by Mejia’s singing and guitar playing. The show will present a full 90 minutes with comedy sketches, memorable songs, poignant moments, and special surprises. The show has something for everyone, from a satire of the late 70s disco days hit, “I will survive” refashioned as “I won’t survive,” to sketches with cast members donning costumes of a cow and an olive.
Mejia has a following that goes back to his high school days in drama class. These personal fans are one of the major motivations for producing and starring in his own show. Even at age 8, when he made his musical debut in the local school operetta, Mejia knew that music, acting, and dance would play a major role in his life. Throughout early school years and college, Mejia performed in dozens of musical productions, Shakespearean plays, and musical concerts. He has won numerous best acting and performance awards. He even took on ballet, one of his toughest challenges.
