Maleco Collecitve has Teamed Up with Voto Latino... Be Counted!

Maleco Collecitve has teamed up with Latino youth empowerment organization Voto Latino, co-founded by actress Rosario Dawson, and influential artists from all genres including Mos Def, Morrissey, Pitbull and Aventura to help drive participation in the upcoming 2010 Census.
The brand new promotional soundtrack, available exclusively at Voto Latino's Census site www.BeCountedRepresent.com via a partnership with iTunes, will be available for FREE to anyone who visits Voto Latino's home page and simply takes a pledge to participate in the Census. Users who take the pledge to be counted by the Census at BeCountedRepresent.com will be given an online code redeemable for the 25 free songs on iTunes.
"Music is a powerful medium to get people into action. The 25-song album represents the cultural diversity of Latinos in this country- a soundtrack that underscores the lives of young Latinos," says Voto Latino deputy director Josh Norek, who executive produced the digital music project. "To have the Grammy-winning Christian artist Paulina Aguirre featured side-by-side with iconic British alternative artist Morrissey, Latin hip-hop star Pitbull and buzz-worthy Maleco Collective is truly amazing," adds Voto Latino executive director Maria Teresa Kumar.
"We thought it was important to get behind the message that being counted, just like voting, is crucial to creating a better future for yourself," says Maleco's frontman and co-founder Malverde.
This year's 2010 census is of critical importance to all Americans because it allocates $400 billion in federal funds (for things like education, healthcare & transportation) and determines congressional representation. As an official US Census partner, Voto Latino seeks to count Latinos who during the last Census were among the undercounted.
