The Nike Latino Heritage Sneakers for 2009

Nike put together an event to celebrate Latino Heritage Month at the Nike Montalban, in Hollywood, CA. Their contribution was designing a sneaker called the Navarro High U. They invited close to 300 kids from different high schools as well as some celebrities to come join in on the fun.
Jeff Garcia, from Power 106 was the host for the evening. They had live performances from comedian Richard Villa, and Latino Dance Throupe. Nike served up some very yummy tacos, that my business partner David couldn’t get enough of!
The Sneaker Design:
The design is an analogy of Latinos’ passion for sports as that of an erupting volcano- the passion just pours from within us.
• The quarter panel graphic is an abstract representation of the passion we have for soccer depicted through the hexagon pattern.
• The mid-sole is an abstract representation of our passion for baseball, illustrated through the screened, circular pattern.
The Navarro Sneakers unfortunately will not be available for retail; they were only given to the lucky few who attended the event.
Yippee I got a pair!
