Water Worries

I just heard a commercial for water conservation and how important it is to follow the tips given out by our local water districts.  Blah, blah, blah, right?  Wrong!

It reminded me of a story my tia shared with us the other day.  She goes to Bible studies for the catecismo, (she is a teacher), and they were shown this video (don’t ask me why) of what it will be like in the future if we don’t conserve water now.  This is some of what she told us:

In the video we were all hairless because it is easier to remain clean the less hair you have.  Can you imagine what we would all look like with no hair?  Ha, maybe those futuristic movies where we all look like aliens are real.  Oh, but wait the worst part is, we can’t take showers.  No showers!!!  It didn’t say in the video, but I imagine the world is a very stinky place.  Phew!  The few people that were around had an ugly shade of grey to their skins (yes, we will be grey and hairless) due to the lack of hydration.  There was very little vegetation, mostly weeds.  People would kill for whatever little water they could get their hands on.  The drug of choice was water.

So did I scare you?  Because to tell you the truth I have scared myself again and have decided to make the necessary cuts to my family’s water usage.  Even if it means installing timers in each bathroom so that we only take 5 minute showers.

Check your local water district’s website to find out what you can do to conserve water.  Most districts offer free seminars on conserving water in your home.  They also have a list of low-water plants you can use in your landscaping.
