Sometimes I find myself at the store wondering: “How can I ‘keep it green’?” I am always on the lookout for different ways I can change my lifestyle so that is more environmentally friendly.  I was in line at Trader Joe’s the other day, when I noticed that they brown bag all of their groceries. Right next to the cashier’s counter they had a stand with reusable bags, including some made of canvas. I thought it was a great idea to buy a few of the canvas bags and every time I go to the store, I can use those instead of plastic; that way I can stop at least a few plastic bags from being used. Imagine if we all saved just a few plastics bags, together it would make a huge impact. I found a great website where you can go to and get more of an idea of what I am talking about. It’s a great online store where you can purchase theses bags in bulk, for about $1.00 a bag, depending on your taste and quantity need. I have seen these types of bags at stores like:

  • Walmart.com
  • Trader Joe's - Your Neighborhood Grocery Store -
  • Target

I suggest you try the canvas bags first and see how they work out for you; share with your experiences with us!

Keep it Green Tip:

When recycling make sure to separate plastic, paper, and aluminum from each other. It helps to have three different containers to dispose each material. These materials are easily recyclable and can be reused after they have been clean and properly processed.
