Do-It-All Vodka

I don’t know about you, but when I think of vodka I imagine it in my cup beautifully partnered with cranberry juice. Ooh, or even flowing nicely through the yellow flesh of a pineapple slice on top my martini glass! I wouldn’t however have ever thought of vodka as a cleaning agent or to use it for medicinal purposes or for anything other than making those people around me seem more beautiful and funny!
Yet, here I am learning something new and sharing it with you! Vodka has many uses, yes; it is a multi-use product, which in turn makes it a GREEN product!
= KEEP FLOWERS FRESH LONGER Add a few drops of vodka and a teaspoon of sugar to the water in your flower vase. Change out the mixture with fresh ingredients daily.
= FIGHTS POISON IVY Immediately pour vodka on skin that has come into contact with poison ivy, and the alcohol will wash away the poison ivy oil.
= MAKE YOUR HAIR PRETTY How? Add a “shot” of vodka to a 12-ounce bottle of shampoo. It will give you healthier, lush hair.
= KEEP YOUR CLOTHES FRESH Forget about those products that refresh your clothes, simply spritz your clothes with vodka, and then hang to dry in a well-ventilated area. Vodka kills odor-causing bacteria, but dries odor-free.
= SHINE YOUR FIXTURES Moisten a soft, clean cloth with vodka, then apply a little elbow grease to get your chrome, glass and porcelain fixtures shiny.
= HELP A TOOTHACHE Try swishing a shot of vodka over the affected area. It can help it disinfect, and should numb the pain in your gums.
= INSECT REPELENT AND BUG KILLER Pour a little vodka in a spray bottle and squirt on the bugs or on yourself as a repellent.
=HEAL ACHES AND PAINS Did you know that for generations herbalists have used lavender to naturally ease aches and pains? Well: Fill a glass jar with fresh lavender flowers, then top off with vodka. Seal the lid tightly and place in the sun for three days. Strain the liquid through a coffee filter, and you have a homemade lotion to rub into aches and pains.
=GET RID OF MOLD Fill a recycled spray bottle with vodka. Spritz on, then let sit for 15 minutes. Scrub away with an old toothbrush (uno usado, no el de tu hermana).
Wow, I’m really excited about all these new things I just learned. I don’t know about you, but I’m seriously going to stock up on my favorite spirit tonight!
