Ride ‘n’ Dine Re-Invented

If you are one of those people, who are tired of the same ol’ hotel room, then check out these funky places to rest your bones.
In Sweden you will find the Jumbo Hostel. Just opened in February of 2009, you will find a decommissioned two-story 747 jumbo jet, which has been converted into a hostel. There are 25 rooms, a café and a lounge on the second floor. Yes, of course, it sits on an old part of the runway, so if you like quiet nights bring your earplugs!
In Costa Rica Here we have another plane-turned into a hotel. This one is a 727 jetliner fully restored in Costa Rica at the Hotel Costa Verde. This place offers a nearby cargo plane-turned-cliff-side-bar. The hotel is on the edge of the national park, so you are in the jungle and your room is propped up 50 feet into the trees, so you can enjoy beautiful views of the ocean. Just be careful that the monkeys don’t find their way into your room!
In Alaska There are other things that can be converted into a hotel, as proven by the Aurora Express Bed & Breakfast in Alaska. They took vintage passenger trains and transformed them into http://www.fairbanksalaskabedandbreakfast.com/ themed hotels! There is the Diner Car, The National Emblem and the Golden Nellie. However, if you don’t care for antiques, this may not be the place for you.
In the Netherlands They couldn’t pass up this hotel idea, not with the large amount of old Dutch and German railcars they could transform into money earners. The Controversy Tram Inn was born from this idea. Besides the renovated railcars, that kind of look like the subway trains in New York City (only safer and cleaner), there is a sombrero shaped hot tub, ooh and my favorite, a UFO shaped video library. Ha, I love it!
In Texas Oh and don’t worry because the wonderful and creative people from Texas also came up with a groovy idea. They have RV’s from the 50’s era, eco-shacks, Sioux teepees, and a number of tents, which all combined make up an imaginative and sustainable community. This is a place to go when you are tired of the city life, for sure!
As you can see, there is something for every taste. All you have to do is get out there…
