I started going to the gym about 5 months ago, and I would wear old sweat pants, a cotton t-shirt, my regular bra and tennis shoes that were not meant for running. This how clueless I was, and didn’t get why I couldn’t last longer than 30 minutes working out. I would feel sticky from sweating, my feet would start hurting, and it just made me want to give up on my exercise training.

When I was invited to Vancouver by NIKE for their Women’s Training Summit, for the Spring 2010 Collection, I honestly had no idea what I was about to learn. Nike talked about their technology on how the littlest changes in the clothing we wear, CAN help you work out longer, and feel better about the way you look when you’re at the gym.

I was given an awesome gym bag stuffed with everything I need to get my training on. Pants, socks, sports bra, jacket, cropped pants, cotton t-shirts, etc. The minute I put on the clothes I got excited, I looked awesome, and cute too! I realized that I really needed a sports bra, and loved the support I got from wearing it. The pants have a slim fit, but without making, you feel uncomfortably tight. Even having NO tags on the clothes made a difference, because there was no scratchy tag bugging me. I was very impressed, and excited to start my work out as soon as I got home. The clothes are made to make you look good and feel awesome.  This is what I learned:

Do you know what Dry-Fit is and how it works?

It helps absorb sweat and helps cool you down. This is called “Wicking” and their products feel 100% 'breathable', they did feel airier than the cotton t-shirt and old sweat pants I would wear before.

The Nike Zoom Fly Sister One+:

These sneakers are super light, because the sole has been laser cut, to make it twice as easy to move in any direction. This shoe is lighter than last year’s. They cut out another 1.2 ounces, which makes it 16% lighter, close to what your Nano weighs... AMAZING! They also added “Fly wire” that helps make the shoe stronger.  I love this shoe, I didn’t feel weighed down as I did by my heavy shoes from the past.

Spring 2010 Collection:

It’s a must have! The colors are bright and cheery. From lightweight running jackets with great functions to help you cool down, to the shorts that don’t cause chaffing so you can run longer. It’s smart technology, and I love that they ask athletes what works and doesn’t work in order to make their clothing perform better. I honestly had never owned anything from NIKE, but I’m glad I got some of the clothes and had a chance to test them out for myself. I’m a true believer, and I realized that when you make an investment in training clothes that work for you and not against you, you get the work out you have been wanting to achieve quicker and with less discouragement.

Thanks NIKE!
