Gabriella Hernandez, vintage aficionado, started Besame Cosmetics out of her passion for make-up and glitz of the old days. She grew up watching her mami and abuelita glamour it up, fascinated, as they meticulously applied make-up and actually enjoyed getting ready. That served as her motivation to bring back a little of the retro beauty glam to the make-up of today.

Hernandez worked closely with make-up artists that worked on period films (including “Gone with the Wind”), so she could get the colors just right. Because of this, her line offers a special range of color palettes, including a replica of Marilyn Monroe’s iconic lipstick rojo. One of the most impressive things about this particular line is the packaging. Hernandez collected vintage make-up products and packaging from all over the world as inspiración. Inspiration certainly struck: the lipsticks come in cases that resemble bullet casings from the 1940’s and the eye shadow palettes are in vintage cigarette cases. Therefore, everything looks as opulent on the outside as it does on the inside. I can’t even lie…I’m a sucker for pretty packaging!
