Every fantastic budding-fashionista should have 10 main items in her closet. You don't have to rush out and buy them all at once, but these staples will keep you full of options when you're having one of your "I have NOTHING to wear" days:

1) The little black dress (a.k.a. the "LBD")-

This is a given. It can be dressed up or down and will look timeless and classy no matter what.

2) Black Pumps/Heels-

A closet staple that you can wear to work or to the club.

3) Great Fitting Jeans-

It is so difficult to find a pair of jeans that hugs you in all the right places! When you find a pair, try to buy two so you can keep them in constant rotation.

4) Trench or a Go-

With-Everything Coat-A trench coat always appears elegant. Just make sure it's fitted to your shape or you might run the risk of looking like Inspector Gadget. A go-with-everything coat is one that helps you appear polished (and keeps you warm!) no matter what. Black is one of the best options for this, although I have a leopard-print coat that has the go-with-everything effect down pat.

5) Black Pants-

As with your jeans, when you find a flattering pair, stock up! Like your black pumps, they can be worn for a variety of events without looking out of place.

6) White Cotton Shirt-

A white cotton men's-looking dress shirt can be drop-dead sexy! This is another item that can be effortlessly dressed up or down and can still look stylish. You can pair it with everything from a suit to jeans and have it look lovely.

7) Sneakers-

A lot of ladies are confused when it comes to picking out a pair of fresh kicks. Ladies, they don't have to offer a lot of options (i.e. cross trainers, gel insoles, etc.) to be a good investment. One pair that you can never go wrong with: Adidas Classic Shell toe Sneakers. They look great with everything from jeans to sundresses and will never go out of style. Plus, you'll feel like you walking on marshmallows. Who doesn't love walking on marshmallows?

8) Suit-

A suit is a fantastic investment because you always have a go-to outfit for interviews or an event aimed towards a professional crowd. Whether it's with a skirt or pants, make sure it's a dark color (such as navy or black) to ensure it will look apt for years to come.

9)Spandex-y/Stretchy T-shirts-

Just like with jeans and black pants, when you find one that fits the way it should, stock up! Neutral/basic colors are great for helping build outfits. Make sure they hug your curves well and keep the parts you want to keep hidden…well, hidden. Target's Mossimo Brand offers a great variety of stretchy T-shirts in different cuts and great colors. I have bought many a t-shirt from them and can still rock them years later. Since it's difficult for me to find shirts that fit well (broad shoulders, boobs and a little waist makes it virtually impossible), I was ecstatic to realize that I can always find a great fitting tee at my neighborhood Target.

10)Leather Purse-

Once again, your best bet is black. It is great whether you're going on an interview or to your Tia's annual barbeque and it's one of those purchases that is worth every penny thanks to the constant use you'll get from it.

One thing I can't live without is a great belt. It goes well with jeans, a dress, an oversized shirt or a cute cardigan.
