Recently, Soy Sandrini and I were lucky enough to get invited to the launch of Eva Mendes’ latest project, “Vida”. Although it sounds like a great title to a movie, it was something even better: dinner ware! Who gets excited about dinner ware?! I certainly did after I saw the drop-dead gorgeous patterns on the dishes, trays, mugs and charger plates, trust!

I was also fortunate enough to ask the magnificent Ms. Mendes a few questions in regards to her line:

Cindy: “What made you decide to design a line of dinner ware as opposed to say, a fashion line, like so many other celebrities are doing”?
Mendes: “I love entertaining and grew up in a home where we always had people over. We never really had matching dinner plates because things would happen, something would get broken or we just never had anything that matched, but I always noticed that things seemed better with small details here and there. Those details somehow made a big difference, so I wanted to make a nice, affordable line that people would want to have in their homes”.

Cindy:
“What made you decide on the name ‘Vida’?
Mendes: “I just love the word! I think it’s such a great word and would even make a great name for a person!”

After a few more questions, we also discovered that the patterns on the dinner ware were influenced from different places Mendes had visited; she picked up influences everywhere, ranging from Spain to Istanbul. She was more than gracious and even answered a ton of questions in Spanish for her Latino audience (she has an adorable Cuban accent, by the way!). I suggest you all go and get some Vida in your life, because it’s going to sell out for sure! The patterns are beyond stunning and make you want to have a dinner party just so you have an excuse to buy them in bulk!
