The term "Sample Sale" has becoming more and more ubiquitous throughout the years, yet a lot of us simple folk have no idea what it is. Tu futura mejor amigais here to clear up any questions for you. Here's the synopsis of what makes up a sample sale:
Regional salespeople of each major manufacturing firm are given a set of samples of each line, which they then show to prospective buyers for stores and boutiques. After showing their wares, the salespeople have no real use for the samples, so holding a sale to get rid of them helps them out as well as consumers. Shoppers can receive amazing pieces at the fraction of what certain pieces would normally cost.
Sample sale clothing sizes can run anywhere from 0-10, but tend to stick between sizes 6-10. A lot of these special sales are held in empty auditoriums, show rooms or hotels and only run at certain times. Since these sales are major events, you might have to line up early and be prepared to throw some bows as you scramble for that awesome crocodile belt or that mohair cardigan. Please be aware that most items cannot be tried on or returned; items tend to be sold "as is", so if you end up with a stained or damaged item, it's your responsibility.
Cindita Says:Personally, I love a good sample sale. One of the best ones I have attended was for Arden B. clothing, where I managed to pick up a sparkly cream Marilyn Monroe-esque halter dress and a lipstick red tuxedo top with a matching belt, both at unbeatable prices.
Arden B. makes great quality clothing and offer really fun accessories for the professional-yet-fun-loving girl that works hard but still makes time for drinks con sus mejores amigas. Keep an eye out for their stuff and their very rare (yet well worth it) sample sales!
