Mother's Day Article 2009

For my sister and I, Mother's Day is a day of remembrance. We have so many memories of our Mother who passed away of ovarian cancer over 16 years ago. Antonia Macedo. She was a feisty woman of small stature, but with a big, loud, attitude and a unique sense of style. She taught us to be kind and gracious, to not judge others, and to give help to people when we can. She had a big heart and cared for others less fortunate than us. She made sure we didn't boast or brag about material things. She raised two silly outgoing girls that were opposite of each other; it could not have been easy, but we always felt loved. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of her and wish that she could see how happy and healthy we are. I thank her every day for everything she did for us.
Fortunately, I have been blessed to have two great mothers in my lifetime; Elizabeth Macedo is my Stepmother and has been here for me for the last few years. She carries on the motherly traditions like giving advice, listening to problems, and she shares in my happiness and is always available to me. She is kind and sees the GOOD in everyone. These two women have been a positive roll model to me. Happy Mother's day!
