For my Beauitful Mamita

For my Beauitful Mamita

Growing up, I watched my mama rocking hot pink patent heels (hey, it was the 80’s) and how she always had to look fly, from her hair to her make-up to her matching shoes-and-bag combos. Not only that, but she used me as her own personal doll, dressing me up in flouncy ruffles and Mary-Janes all with matching hats and gloves.I think she’s the one who implanted the whole fashion and beauty obsession in yours truly. Although she’s changed up the wardrobe and can no longer wear the sky-scraper heels, she’s still always up early, putting the lipstick on. I almost feel ashamed when I leave the house without make-up on or in sweats because I know she disapproves (yet, she also disapproves of me wearing heels since I tower over her like a giant, so her disapproval is something I’ve learned to deal with). Regardless, she taught me what it’s like to look and act like a lady. When you present yourself as one and make an effort to confidently show yourself in the “proper” way to the world, you will receive the respect and admiration you deserve. I never really understood until I got older and actually started really listening to mom. I love my tiny, loud, beautiful mamita and all she’s taught me by example. I hope I can teach my future daughter at least half the life lessons she’s taught me, all while looking at least half as dope as she does! Te quiero, mom, y te deseo el dia mas feliz posible!
