When Mariachi Meets Elvis

"The music is a force and it just takes me. It makes me feel in tune with the universe…" Said the lead singer of Spanglish singing band Monte Negro. Going on tour this fall, (sponsored by MTV Tr3s) the band was featured in the December/January issue of Latina magazine. When asked about their debut album's title, "Cicartix", Kinski Gallo explained that each song on the album was symbolic to a scar, which has made them all stronger. Growing up in both Mexico and Los Angeles, Kinski, and his brother Rodax, (the bassist of the band) have been exposed and inspired by music their whole lives: from their dad and his mariachi band, to Kinski idolizing and imitating Elvis growing up. Their most popular song "Give me Love (No Llores)" is a tribute to the women in their life: mom, grandma and sisters.
This music is hot! A little bit of everything, this unique sound is bound to make it big! Check them out; they are definitely going on my I-Pod!
