Pepe Aguilar Historic Performance at the Unity of Latin America & Caribbean Summit

Contemporary Latin music legend Pepe Aguilar, a singer/songwriter with a career that spans three decades and includes 5 Grammy® awards as well as multiple Gold and Platinum records, continues to rise as one of the biggest recording artists and true representatives of popular Mexican music.
This was proven once again that Pepe was considered at the level of a historical reunion and was invited by the Mexican Government to perform in front of a selected audience comprised of 30 Head-of-states at the Cumbre México-Comunidad del Caribe (CARICOM) (Mexican Caribbean Community Summit) and Cumbre de la Unidad (Unity Summit), held this weekend in the Mexican Riviera in the state of Quintana Roo.
“We are going to have a very Mexican night, with all the ingredients that imply a night of this nature including a surprise, by a renowned & beloved Mexican artist, one who graciously donated his time, a representative of our people, a magnificent surprise”, said Mexican President Felipe Calderon to the Head-of-states and special guests, as stated by the news media that covered the event.
Pepe Aguilar performed an elaborate repertoire on this very special Mexican evening, captivating the audience of distinguished diplomats and special guests for almost an hour as he performed his greatest hits such as: “Por Mujeres Como Tú”, “100% Mexicano”, “El Gustito”, “Me Vas a Extrañar” y “Directo al Corazón”, among others.
Among the special invited guests to this magical & very Mexican night, notable Mexican governmental personalities were in attendance: Supreme Court Justice of the Nation, Guillermo Ortiz Mayagoitia, president of the Chamber of Deputies, Francisco Ramírez Acuña (PAN), the President of the Senate, Carlos Navarrete (PRD), governors of the Mexican states of Tabasco, Andrés Granier, Quintana Roo, Félix González Canto and from Zacatecas Amalia García plus presidents of national political parties Beatriz Paredes (PRI), and César Nava (PAN). Also present was notable empresario Carlos Slim.
It was a magical, flawless night on all accounts, weather, ambience, lighting, audio, location, Pepe’s grace and voice, all was impeccable and came together in a very intimate setting , especially intimate for the President, Felipe Calderon, and the first Lady, as they moved to a location closer to the stage minutes before the start of the presentation to enjoy Pepe Aguilar’s performance.
In an emotional moment, Haitian President, Rene Preval, surprisingly interrupted the concert to share a few words –thanking the Mexican people – for their enormous support during his nation’s tragedy.
It is also notable that on February 20th Pepe Aguilar shared the news of this honor with his followers via Twitter “ I was invited by the Mexican Government to sing Mexican music to more than 30 Head of states whom are attending this historic summit”.
Without a doubt, Pepe Aguilar’s excellence continues to shine on all levels, as is evident with this invitation to partake in these historic International events, demonstrating once again that his success, talent, and authenticity on stage have no limit.
