Jíca-What?
by Christina J. Tovar, posted on 2010-04-30 17:32:21A couple weekends ago, I attended my cousin's baby shower and my tías made a fruit salad. My cousin and I got so excited and went fishing for more jícama in a huge bowl! We began talking about how some people don't even know what jicama is. The best way to describe it is “like a potato, but a fruit". It can be eaten alone or with other fruits.
Here's a quick and easy way to eat jícama.
What you'll need:
- 1 Large jícama
- 2 limes juiced
- 1 tablespoon of powdered chile
Preparation:
- Peel jícama, wash, and cut into French fry strips.
- In a medium bowl combine jícama, lime juice and chile powder and mix well.
*you can also add pineapple, oranges, and pepinos al gusto.
