Bunuelo con Dulce de Leche Recipe

Vasitos de Buñuelos con Nieve de Dulce de Leche
To celebrate las fiestas patrias, I am combining two of my favorite recipes to create a sinful dessert that will be irresistible: vasos hechos de bunuelos with a scoop of fresh and easy dulce de leche ice cream topped with a drizzle of dulce de leche.
First, let’s begin by creating los vasitos de bunuelos:
BUNUELOS:
* 3 1/3 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
* 1 tsp. salt
* 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
* 1 1/2 tbsp. sugar
* 1/4 cup butter
* 2 eggs
* 1/2 cup milk
* Muffin pan
1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
2. Sift flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar into bowl. Add butter and mix well until it is the consistency of coarse meal. Beat eggs with milk and pour into flour mixture. Stir together until it becomes one mass.
3. Put dough on board and knead lightly for 2-3 minutes or until smooth. Cut dough into balls the size of donut holes and let stand for 15 minutes.
4. Roll each ball into a thin pancake on floured board.
5. Lightly grease the muffin pan and coat with sugar coating. Lay each pancake in the muffin pan to form a cup. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until crisp.
SUGAR COATING:
* 1 cup sugar
* 1 tsp. cinnamon
-Mix sugar and cinnamon in paper bag. Reheat Bunuelos in 250 degree oven for 5 minutes, then shake one at a time in bag to coat.
-Next, place muffin pan to cool and begin with the Dulce de leche recipe:
Dulce De Leche
What you will need:
* 1 gallon of milk
* 1 vanilla bean
* 4 1/2 cups of sugar
* 1 tsp baking soda
1. In a large saucepan, bring milk to boil. Remove from heat and strain in a cheesecloth.
2. Return milk to pan.
3. Cut vanilla bean in half and pour seeds in milk and sugar, bringing it to boil until sugar is dissolved. As it begins to boil, stir in baking soda. Reduce heat to medium and stir consistently until mixture thickens.
4. Place the pan in a bowl of ice and stir until mixture becomes cold.
