The holidays are here!  Right after El Día De Pavo, I begin my Christmas decorating frenzy. I put on my elf hat and open my decoration boxes while I watch “Elf” and get to it. The first year I moved into this house Christmas was on a budget but I needed ornaments. I looked around the house to see what I could recycle. I’m not sure about you, but with today’s technology, compact discs seem almost obsolete. So what do you do with the old scratched CD's? Turn them into Christmas ornaments! This perfect project can be done on Thanksgiving or the day after. You can even challenge family members to see whose ornament is the best. Another option is to personalize and give them as gifts for your loved ones.

What you will need

  • CD
  • Acrylic paints in Christmas colors
  • Gloss (preferably in a spray)
  • Primer
  • Embellishments (glitter, sequins, buttons, pictures etc.)
  1. Coat the CD on both sides with primer covering any images or writing. Let it dry as directed on primer
  2. Paint in colors desired and allow to dry
  3. Add embellishments and personalize
  4. Lastly, spray with gloss and allow to dry before wrapping

Added touch:

You can also make your own wrapping paper to coordinate with the ornament to carry on the theme.
