Super Mario Hermano
Si tienen hijos, saben que les encanta esperar al ultimo momento para escojer su disfras. My son has done this every single year since about the age of five. Prior to that I always knew what he was into and made his costumes myself. Last year he wanted to be super Mario of the Super Mario Bros. video game. He borrowed my dad’s overalls. I bought him a red t-shirt and read baseball cap. I made the yellow buttons, the “M” on the cap, and moustache all out of felt. Then I went to the costume shop to find white gloves and viola! Super Mario! He got plenty of compliments. It helped that his hair is naturally curly and looked like Mario’s so no wig needed!
Here are some other DIY costumes:
Baby Superman- Use blue zip-up PJs, make logo out of felt Velcro it on to chest, and make mini cape out of red material or you can use a red dinner napkin or handkerchief.
Scarecrow- Use long sleeve black top and brown bottoms. Make patches and glue on elbow of shirt and knee of pant. Make a hat out of felt and also add a patch to the hat. Use raffia to tie around joints and hat just like a scarecrow. Paint nose, eyes, and cheeks to resemble a scarecrow.
Sexy Football Gal- Take an oversized jersey and tailor it to fit your body like a dress. Add embellishments like rhinestones around the numbers. Buy tube socks so the top stripe coordinates with the color of the jersey. Put your hair in pigtails. Use black paint under eyes and carry a football.
There are so many things you can do, just use your creativity, recycle old costumes, and utilize accessories!
