Party Planning RX

As if planning a party isn’t tough enough, what the heck do you do when the character theme your child wants is nowhere to be found?! Unfortunately, this very situation happened to me a number of times. For me, it was as if my son could predict the coming trends of television characters that would make a comeback or new ones that were going to be manufactured on everything from towels to toasters.  I’d be going nuts trying to find Dr. Seuss party supplies with no luck, then they’d released the movie months later. Everywhere you’d go, it was Dr. Seuss mania. Thankfully, my son Eli is 11 and this is a thing of the past. I’d like to make some suggestions to help:

If the character is part of a TV network like Nick Jr. or something, always check their websites! Often times, they have color pages or printables that can be used to make everything you need (things like invitations, party favors, goodie bags, and activities). Look for images that can be printed for free on the internet and use them as décor. Take a look at the character. What is he about? Where does he come from? What does he do? Then go ahead and recreate it. Don’t even worry about the paper goods because you can just use solids in coordinating colors. Everything else is really simple.Use your imagination and get to it!
